Lowe’s: My Supply Chain Red Vest

Project Details & Context

The Impact

Increased supply chain associate efficiency by 72% by streamlining 12 fragmented legacy systems into a unified, dynamic, multi-tiered, role-based access control, user-centric supply chain platform known as My Supply Chain Red Vest.

The Deliverables

“…He works equally well with Product Management and Engineering, questioning assumptions with the intent of deriving the best possible user experience.
He looks at holistic user experience design, which ultimately creates more cohesive and thoughtful user interactions with technology….”

Arricka Brouwer | Program Management Leader, Supply Chain

The Project

I spearheaded the design of My Supply Chain Red Vest, a dynamic, role-based access control, user-centric platform that transformed the daily work experience of logistics supply chain associates. The platform streamlined access to vital information, addressed key usability challenges, and increased efficiency by providing associates with the data they needed when they needed it.

The Challenge

Supply Chain associates are required to use numerous legacy applications that only contain part of the data they need when they need it, necessitating manual verification and frequent context switching.

Key Challenges

User Experience Challenge
Inefficient Logistical Applications

Supply Chain associates must use various legacy applications during their shifts to effectively manage shipments and oversee operations.

User Experience Challenge
Process Inefficiencies

Supply Chain associates spend excessive time searching for relevant information in various applications and non-digital documentation.

Architecture Challenge
Limited Data Sharing

To drive meaningful efficiency, data sharing is essential, especially given the high demand. Setting priorities for data access for the right associate at the appropriate time is crucial.

Education Challenge
New Systems Require Training

New systems require training to be used efficiently. I led the proposal and initiated the first-ever Supply Chain walkthrough wizard system for My Supply Chain Red Vest.

The Approach

  1. Reviewed current experience and competitors’ experiences and identified opportunities with stakeholder feedback.
  2. Collaborated with stakeholders and end users on determining the proper data required when needed for all supply chain associates to generate flows for feedback sessions.
  3. Tested assumptions with prototypes and various levels of designs with stakeholders and end users, and refined with continual feedback.
